Customers looking for high levels of service from certified, technical professionals.

The Program:

The acceptability of wire harness and cable assemblies is a widely-used standard supported by the Wire and Harness Manufacturers Association. published by the IPC. It maintains an international reputation as the source for end product acceptance criteria for cable and wire harness assemblies.

This is an industry-consensus program that includes certified IPC training, certification and instructional materials based on the IPC-A-620 standard. This standard is developed by users, consultants, assemblers and OEMs in the electronics industry. Many individuals have been trained and certified as IPC-A-620 CIT instructors in the program. This certification will demonstrate your commitment to customer requirements and assists any company dedicated to ISO-or other quality assurance initiatives. This training and certification is highly recognized throughout the wire and cable harness as well as the electronics industry. The IPC-A-620 Training and Certification program provides instructors with high-quality materials and detailed instructional plans for training operators (CIS).

The IPC/WHMA-A-620 Space Addendum training program provides individuals with practical knowledge as well as the application of the specification on building wire and cable harnesses for space applications. This instruction includes the hands-on training for the outfitting, testing and inspection of cable and wire harnesses for space applications. This add on class has the students practicing hands-on skills related to the building of wire and cable harnesses. Most of the class time is spent in hands-on training.

The IPC-A-620 training and certification program has multiple tiers of instruction. CIT or instructor candidates are sent by their parent companies to receive intensive training on the cable and wire harness standards from an IPC-approved certification and training center. Candidates are certified once they complete their course of study and pass the certification examination. If they feel they do not need the training course, candidates may opt to take a “challenge test” administered by one of the certification centers.

CIT (instructors) are provided instructional materials for training workers in a 1-4 day technician level training program. CITs and CISs are considered certified for two years after the course completion date. They must then re-certify at an IPC-approved certification site (CITs) or with a certified instructor at the company or at a certification center (CIS). To find out more information, check the IPC Certification Portal or check our website to contact the training centers directly.
