IPC Certification Renewal

IPC Certification Renewal

As part of your IPC certification renewals are required by the latest policies and procedures and differ between CIS and CIT and CSE credentials. The recertification period is every two years at which time you are required to renew your IPC certification for each program. The IPC recertification program as outlined in the latest IPC policies and procedures helps insure the competence of the certificants with ever-changing processes, specifications, terms and tools.

IPC certification renewals taking place within a 90 day window prior to the expiration date of the existing certification shall obtain a new expiration date that is 2 years following the existing expiration date.  An extension of 90 beyond the initial 2 year IPC certification term may be requested by the IPC certification and testing body.

There are several ways to obtain your IPC certification renewal.

IPC CIS Recertification

If you are a CIS renewing your IPC certification you can do this one of several ways:

  1.      The renewing candidate can “challenge test” the materials-both the written exams as well as the hand soldering skills if applicable.
  2.      The renewing candidate can first go through the renewal curriculum and then sit for the IPC certification renewal exams
  3.      The renewing candidate can go through the entire CIS course material (suggested if the candidate has previously struggled with the material or their has been a revision change.

For the written examinations proctoring is available in person at one of the BEST training centers, a mutually-agreed upon location or online through the IPC EDGE training and certification portal. Fees for testing , administration and proctoring will be applicable. One retest is available at no charge.

IPC CIT Recertification

IPC CIT recertification is available through retesting. In order to qualify for IPC CIT recertification through testing the CIT shall have conducted at least two IPC CIS courses to a minimum combined class size of at least ten CIS candidates during their (24) month certification period. These classes will be substantiated through the IPC EDGE training portal prior to their (24) renewal testing. In order that the CIT can qualify for the renewal requirement, the courses taught by the CIT  have to include at least one optional module including workmanship (if applicable).

If you are a CIT your IPC certification renewal can proceed in one of several ways:

  1.      The candidate who is up for renewal can go through the entire CIT course material (if the candidate has not met the training requirement of CIS or there has been a revision change.)
  2.      The renewing CIT candidate can first go through the renewal curriculum and then sit for the IPC certification renewal exams
  3.      The renewing candidate can “challenge test” the materials-both the written exams as well as the hand soldering skills if applicable.
