IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification for Specialist
The IPC/WHMA A-620 Certification for the specialist is a program based on the IPC standard for wire harness and cable acceptance known as the Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies. This certification course Is modeled after the successful IPC A-610 which is IPC’s most widely-used standard. In this training program associates for many different parts of the organization are trained in how to use and interpret this wire harness and cable assembly standard.
In the IPC A-620 Certification, Inspection of Wire harness/cable specialist training program students are instructed in the various classes of products as defined in the standard. These acceptance levels include criteria for Target, Acceptable, Process Indicator and Defect conditions. These are supported in the standard with graphs, pictures, illustrations. Instructors bring in real-world examples based on their own rich experiences in the manufacturing of cables and wire harnesses. This makes for a memorable IPC-A-620 Specialist training experience.
IPC 620 Certification describes acceptability criteria for crimped, mechanically secured and soldered interconnections and the corresponding lacing/restraining criteria associated with cable and harness assemblies. BEST has developed a course to instruct users on the basics of the wire harness and cable assembly including print reading. This a 2-day class with the first day being a “how to” hands-on session for learning how to crimp, strip wire, measure, and label wire as well as poke pins into connector housings. The second day is spent building a cable harness using a bed of nails board and a print as a guide. These hands-on skills augment the training received in the IPC-A-620 Specialist training program and can be modified for specific customer requirements.
