The IPC J-STD-001 assembled by BEST is accordance with the latest IPC J-STD-001 standard  and is designed for those who want to “brush up” on their knowledge base (the pother option being going through the entire IPC J-STD-001 certification  program and then taking the certification tests for the CSE) The J-STD-001 is a worldwide standard assembled and published by the IPC.

The IPC-J-STD-001, the Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies, is the is the standard for assembling printed wiring boards and other electronic assemblies. The standard describes methods, verification criteria and various techniques for producing solder interconnections. The standard zeroes in on requirements as well as process control for a broad range of electronic products.

The “industry or general knowledge” part of the IPC J-STD-001 CSE standard certification testing is a closed-book test with multiple-choice questions. The examination is time-limited and candidates must answer the questions within a one hour time slot (speed PLUS accuracy count!). Topics include but not limited to the following topical areas:

Terms and definition

  • Flow down requirements
  • Acceptance requirements
  • Classification of electron assemblies
  • Component ID
  • Assembly requirements
  • Appendix in the standard

The IPC J-STD-001 certification program has multiple levels including Master Instructors, Certified Instructors, applications specialists as well as the CSE and Senior IPC J-STD-001 CSE designations. IPC A- J-STD-001 CSE and Master CSE for the J-STD-001 retains its validity for a 2 year period of time after successful certification.
